So You Can Watch It Anytime
The Best Thing Ever: Dick In A Box
If you missed SNL last night, you missed this: the best SNL skit/video short ever.
If you still haven't come on over to the Justin Timberlake side of the fence, you will now.
i wrote a blog on here back in may about the letdown of vacations and how the anticipation of vacations was actually much more pleasing. (that blog actually led to my inclusion in an article in the Washington Post.) this morning, as i waste a few minutes of time i should be working, my thoughts are more about exhaustion and the relief of a small vacation.
in a moment of complete candor i'll admit i'm completely exhausted; mentally fatigued. i'm not so much excited to have the time off as much as i'm desperate for it. i'm the type person that puts an incredible amount of pressure on myself to be successful (and to make my projects successful) so the last few months have been a challenge. that challenge will continue for the next four or five months; but hopefully it will plateau. the few days away from everything work related will be nice - then wednesday, it will be right back to it.
as for this site, i will update it today or tomorrow, but any additions over the next few days may only come through the (almost) daily blog. i feel as though i should constantly apologize for the lack of new content the last few months. while readership is still growing, i know most of you won't keep coming back if there isn't something worthwhile for you to read - or listen. i hope to spend a little time this weekend playing around with a podcast and maybe catching up of a few interviews. or maybe not. it is a vacation, right?
i hope everyone has a happy holiday(s).

you don't have to call me darlin', darlin'
i was nine, almost ten, when i got tickets to see the great american bash on july 4. the great american bash was a wrestling event for the now-defunct nwa. what does that have to do with my first show? well, the opening act was david allen coe, the controversial, but gifted singer-songwriter. coe was known for writing sexually and racially charged lyrics; but also had several huge hits on the country charts in the '70's and one crossover hit as well.
given my age, seeing the wrestling was what i was excited about. i remember sitting in my orange, nose-bleed seat in the upper deck impatiently waiting for him to finish so i could see the thrilling matches between wrestlers like "doctor death" steven williams, "dirty" dick slater, the four horsemen and lazortron 1 and 2. that was until "the american dream" dusty rhodes walked out on stage and sung "johnny be good" with coe. the crowd went wild. i did, too.
concerts, other than the occational over-the-hill country artist, were not a part of my youth. so unless you are a lifelong fan of t. graham brown, ray stevens, ronnie milsap or bill anderson, you'd be underwhelmed.
i guess it could have been worse - my first show could have been something like new kids on the block or martika; but everyone has their story, and most probably include equally lame artists.

Bear In Heaven
Since the (almost) daily blog is acting up, I'm going to post this new video from New York's Bear In Heaven on the main page. This video, for the song, "For Beauty" was shot by Vincent Moon.
New content is coming this weekend, along with the first in a series of posts compiled from feedback submitted by DeadJournalist.com readers, writers and interviewees. This new feature will focus on what you, the readers, are listening to today.
Until then, stay warm.
