Locksley Interview No Up!

The Brooklyn-based (by way of Madison, WI) band Locksley is finding its way on to a lot of music fans' "have you heard this band" list. The band's ability to create what they call "pop songs in a garage band style" has created quite the buzz in the North American music scene.

Having had their songs used in two Payless Shoes commercial, one Cingular commercial, a video for the Starz movie channel and an MTV show has allowed the band the ability to stay independent - while pushing their profile much higher. here ...

Happy Birthday To Us (a day early)

March 16, 2006, DeadJournalist.com launched as a single-paged Web site. The site was an idea that I had been tossing around for several years, but it took another year of not going to SXSW to launch the site. Within a month, I had posted the site's first interview with The High Violets.

Now, almost one year later, the site has gone through three design updates, added several sections and most importantly, conducted 42 artist interviews thus far. And tomorrow, DeadJournalist.com will celebrate with its 43rd interview Jena Malone, the award-winning actress who had begun a music career.

Over the past year, we've added several contributing writers from throughout the US. I'd like that thank everyone for their contributions.

While year one has exceeded my expectations (I'm proud of what we've accomplished) I want the next year to be even better. But for now, happy birthday to us. And thanks for reading.

Chuck

Bored by Music

About once a year, I'd get hit with complete bordom of music. I could care less about it. Then, last year, it hit me twice. Now, for the second time this year, it's hit me hard again. (Note: I would totally play the new Hillary Duff track, and everyone would dance their ass of to it.) Anyway, sitting on my desk right now are dozens of unopened CDs. Boris, Bloc Party, Cold War Kids, Of Montreal, !!!, and about 20 more. Unopened. I have been thinking that any time now, I'd get the bug again. So far, nothing.

If you've tried cranking a lawnmower or chainsaw that just won't crank, you know exactly how I feel.
